More Than Yoga: Science-Backed Wellness for Children

In today's fast-paced world, the mental well-being of children is a growing concern. In Australia, approximately 1 in 7 (14%), 4 to 11-year-olds experience a mental health problem (including anxiety and depression) each year. This prevalence rises significantly in older age groups with, 39.6% of individuals aged 16–24 reported experiencing a mental disorder in a given year. (Black Dog Institute)

This highlights the urgent need for programs like Yoga Stars that provide practical tools to support children and adolescents well-being during their years at school.

Recognising the need for early intervention, Yoga Stars offers more than just traditional yoga. Our program is a comprehensive wellness initiative that integrates scientifically backed tools such as:

  • Meditation: Enhances focus and reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression.

  • Gratitude Practices: Cultivates positive emotions and decreases anxiety.

  • Journaling: Encourages self-reflection and emotional expression, aiding in emotional regulation.

  • Breathing Exercises: Promotes relaxation, stress reduction and enhanced focus.

  • Mindful Activities: Engage children in present-moment awareness, fostering emotional regulation, resilience, and a sense of calm.

These techniques are designed to equip children with practical tools to manage stress and emotions, with the goal to prevent the onset of mental health issues as well as support those who are already experiencing such challenges.

What sets Yoga Stars apart is our dual focus on education and practical application. We don't just teach these methods; we actively engage students in practicing them, ensuring they can incorporate these strategies into their daily lives.

Our program is engaging and fun, tailored to captivate young minds. Led by expert children's yoga instructors, Yoga Stars creates a supportive environment where students can thrive both physically and mentally.

By participating in Yoga Stars, children gain science - backed tools that promote resilience, emotional well-being, and a foundation for positive lifelong mental health.
